Isla Montuosa is an unspoiled island, located 45 miles offshore, the last of the archipelago. Perched on the edge of the continental shelf break, it is an exceptional site for fishing billfish, a real hub for all large pelagics.
Oliver Fishing Panama has developed an exclusive camp on this island.
The setting is all beauty, palm trees along a white sand beach, lush vegetation, crystal clear waters. Fresh water is even running on the island !
The offshore slopes of the island are constantly visited by black marlin, sailfish and huge yellowfin tuna. The common fishing technique is trolling artificial lures. But live bait fishing using a bonito increases the chances of catching a big black marlin. We exploit the association between Tuna schools and dolphins by searching dolphin pods to find Tuna. Fishing tuna with popper provides rewarding and memorable fights. |

Our base camp is close to legendary fishing areas, for example within 10 miles of the mythic Hannibal Bank, one of the most famous trolling sites of Panama with the Zane Grey Reef.
It is well known for its large yellowfin tuna, which can empty a Stella 10000 within a few seconds. |
But the Hannibal Bank does not only attract tuna and marlin.
The top of the reef hosts large amberjack and grouper, and on the surface, big dorado fish often attack the popper! |
Sites are so close to each other from Montuosa that every fishing technique can be experienced the same day.

Popping rock heads for the big red Snapper and the rooster fish, jigging the amberjack, then trolling for rostrum when the sun rises. |
In those crystal clear waters, the attacks can be observed with rare evidence.

BASE CAMP IN THE COIBA NATIONAL PARK |
Oliver fishing Panama prospected the fabulous area south of Coiba National Park, located 80 miles from the Lodge.
The camp settles on Isla Jicaron, fully protected for 8 years by the government from any commercial fishing pressure.
The potential for popper and jigging is enormous. Trolling in the southern part of the island is rewarding too. |

All the emblematic Panama fishes are there, large cubera, rooster fish, amberjack, marlin, tuna, wahoo.
Before setting the camp, fishermen must register at the ranger park station and pay fee for sport fishing and park entrance.
